The topics below explain how to use the trapapp.
trapapp menu
Use the "hamburger button" at the top-left corner of the app to open the trapapp menu, where you'll find most of the app's functions. On a touch device, you can also open the menu by swiping right from the left edge of the screen. The menu closes when you select a menu item or when you tap/click anywhere off of the menu. On a touch device, you can also close the menu by swiping it to the left.
Select a Meet
Use the Select a Meet option in the menu to select the trap meet that the trapapp will use for subsequent Reports (see below). In more technical terms, when you Select a Meet you are essentially defining the data source that the app will use for Report queries. Your selection will remain in force until you change it by selecting a different meet.
Reports
Reports show squad assignments, individual standings, team standings, and more. Select Reports in the trapapp menu to open a list of available reports, then choose a report to load. The name of the report appears at the top of the screen along with the time you chose it (to remind you when the report's data was last refreshed). Loading progress shows while the trapapp queries the database and retrieves data to your device. Reports can take several seconds to retrieve data, so please be patient. Reports allow viewing only, so you don't have to worry about accidentally changing any event data by using the app.
After a report appears on your screen, you can...
Scroll
Use your finger (or mouse etc. if you're using a computer) to scroll the report up or down to see more rows, and left or right to see more columns.
Highlight
Tap or click a row in a report to highlight that row in light blue. Tap or click the row again to remove the highlight. Highlighting rows is a good way to keep your focus on the rows you're most interested in when Names, School Names, Team Names, etc. have scrolled off of the left side of the screen.
Sort
Each trapapp report has a starting sort order, but you can change the order in which any report's rows are sorted. Tap a column heading once to sort by that column in ascending order (small to large). Tap the same column heading again to sort by that column in descending order (large to small). In some cases, you can achieve a multi-column sort by tapping the columns you want to sort by in reverse order of precedence. For example, maybe you want to see individual scores sorted by Posts within Squads within Schools. Tapping the columns in that order (twice each for ascending sort) will put all shooters for a School together, sorted by Squad Number then Post Number.

Refresh Report Data
Use the Refresh button at the top-left of a report occasionally to Refresh Report Data, which refreshes the currently displayed report with the most recent data entered into the system in the clubhouse, and also updates the displayed runtime at the top of the report. This is a good way to check for recent updates to scores, standings, etc.
Output
Use the Output button to open a menu of options for outputting data from the currently displayed report. From the menu, you can select: Copy to Clipboard to copy all of the report's records to the clipboard of whatever device you're using (you can then paste the records into a different app); Save PDF File to save the report to a standard PDF file; Save Excel File to save the report's records to an Excel spreadsheet in native .xlsx format; Print to print the report. The location where PDF or Excel files are saved depends on what type of device and operating system you're using. Also, printing from mobile devices varies from device to device and may require separate configuration.
Filter Results
You can easily filter any report to narrow down what it shows. Maybe you want to show only Female shooters. Or maybe you want to show only the 20-21 yard handicap shooters, or just the shooters from your school or club. Use filters to do all of these and more. There are two ways to filter: Quick Filters and Typed Filters.

Quick Filters
Use the Quick Filters button to open a menu of filters that you can quickly apply to the data in the displayed report. Select the filter you want from the menu, and then the trapapp will "type" the appropriate text into the Filter field for you... boom! Filtered! For example, select Females from the Quick Filters menu to make the report show results for Female competitors only, or select 20-21 Yards in a Handicap report to show results for that yardage group only. Quick Filters are contextual, so each report has its own set of available Quick Filters. For example, you won't see handicap yardage group options in the Quick Filters menu for 16-Yard reports. If you Refresh Report Data (see above) while a Quick Filter you've selected is still active, then the Quick Filter will be re-applied automatically after the refreshed data is loaded.
Typed Filters
Type some text into the Filter field to the right of the Quick Filters button at the top of the report to filter the displayed results based on what you enter. Type the text without using quotes. The trapapp searches as you type. When you stop typing, the report displays only the rows that contain the text you entered (or no rows if none contain the text you entered). Filter text is not specific to any particular column of data; the Filter looks in all columns for the text you enter. This is a good way to make a report show results for your school/club or your squad name only. Filter text is CasE SeNsiTiVE, so be careful how you type it!
You can clear any text and reset the Filter (showing all data again) by tapping the X at the right side of the Filter field or by using the Clear Filter option in the Quick Filters menu.

With the trapapp menu, you can also...
Get trapapp help
Select Get trapapp Help in the menu to open this help box (the one you're reading right now), where you can learn how to use all of the the trapapp's awesome functions!
Give trapapp Feedback
Select Give trapapp Feedback in the menu to open a feedback form where you can rate your experiences with the app, provide suggestions, and let us know what you think of the app! We're grateful for any input you might care to give.
Reshow Last Announcement
The trapapp occasionally shows an announcement that the shoot staff wants all competitors, coaches, and other interested folks at an event to see. If the shoot staff posts a new announcement, it will automatically pop up in a separate box the next time you load a report. If you want to see the most recent announcement again, select Reshow Last Announcement in the menu.
Restart trapapp
Select Restart the App in the menu to... well, you get it... to restart the trapapp. This will cause the app to close and then reload, reconnect to the data source, load a code update if one has been released (more about that below), and start fresh at the app's opening screen. This is a good way to reset everything if you think the app is acting wonky.
About trapapp
Select About trapapp in the menu to get more information about the trapapp, including what version of the app you're currently using, how many reports you've loaded since the last app reload, and your average load time for reports.
View Change Log
See what's new! Select View Change Log in the menu to open a date-sorted list of changes made to the trapapp, with the most recent changes at the top.
Contact Us
Select Contact Us in the menu to open a form you can fill out to send an email to the developer of the trapapp (yeah, more of a "me" not really an "us"). Share your thoughts, ask a question, point out a typoe, make suggestions, etc.
Visit trapreports.com
Select Visit trapreports.com in the menu to leave the app and go to the About page of the app's host site, trapreports.com, where you can learn more about the app and the site. Please note that using this option will navigate away from the trapapp, but don't worry! When you're viewing a page at trapreports.com, you can use the trapapp option in the site's menu to open the app again. It's easy!
Show trapapp QR Code
Select Show trapapp QR Code in the menu to display the trapapp QR Code on your device's screen. Why? Once it's displayed, others can use their device to scan the QR Code from your screen, which will automatically open trapreports.com and start the trapapp on their device. It's a quick and easy way to help family and friends start the app on their own device, rather than having to open their web browser and enter trapreports.com (which also works BTW).
Other Things to Note:
trapapp Updates
The trapapp might occasionally need to be updated during a trap shoot. Some updates may require changes to the app code itself. When such code updates are needed, a message will pop up on your device's screen when you load a report, informing you that an update is available and asking if you want to update now? If you answer "yes" then the app will update and restart itself (it takes just a few seconds). If you answer "no" then you'll be asked again the next time you load a report.
Add a Shortcut to your Home Screen and Use in Full-Screen App Mode
The trapapp is a web app, which means it runs in a web browser on any device, including laptop and desktop computers. But you can add a shortcut/icon to your device's Home screen to more easily access the app in the future. Adding it to your Home screen on an Android device will also let you open the trapapp in "app mode" so that it opens in full screen, with no browser address bar at the top. On an Android device, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right of the browser and then select Add to Home Screen from the menu. On an iOS device, tap the Share button to open the share options, swipe up to open the full Share menu, and then select Add to Home Screen.
Connecting and Reconnecting
When it first opens on your device, the trapapp (like most cloud-connected apps) may take several seconds to establish a network connection to its data source. Once the app is connected, reports should load fairly quickly. After about 5 minutes of no activity, however, the trapapp releases its connection to the data source to conserve power on your device. After the data connection has been released, the next report you select will take a little longer than usual to load as the app reconnects to its data source.
Reporting, not Determining, Awards
Although the trapapp shows awards, it does not determine or assign them. That's done by the shoot staff. A lot of the work that goes into determining the many tie breakers must be done manually by looking at long runs in the score sheets, and much of that work can't proceed until shoot offs are done, because shoot off results affect downstream results. Your patience is appreciated as the shoot staff works as quickly as possible to figure out final awards.

Column Names in Reports
Reports show data in rows and columns, where each row is an individual shooter or a squad (depending on what report you're viewing) and each column is a "field" of data from the database. Some column/field names have obvious meaning, other don't. The following is a list of the less obvious column names and what they mean.
16-1, 16-2, etc - 16-1 shows the individual or team scores (depending on the report) of the first round in the 16-Yard event. 16-2 shows the second round. If there are additional rounds then they appear as 16-3, etc.
16-Tot shows the total score of all rounds (all boxes of ammo) combined for the 16-Yard event.
HC-1, HC-2, etc - HC-1 shows the individual or team scores (depending on the report) of the first round in the Handicap event. HC-2 shows the the second round. If there are additional rounds then they appear as HC-3, etc.
HC-Tot shows the total score of all rounds (all boxes of ammo) combined for the Handicap event.
Tie Break shows results from Shoot Offs, Sub Event totals, Long Runs, or other methods used to break ties in determining awards. Out Of goes along with Shoot Offs to indicate "out of how many." For example a Tie Break entry of 24,22 next to an Out Of entry of 50 indicates two rounds of shoot offs, each with 25 shots (for a total of 50) where the shooter broke 24 targets in the first round and 22 in the second. The use of Shoot Offs vs. Long Runs or other methods to break ties, as well as how many shots any given Shoot Off will entail or whether Long Runs are "from the front" or "from the back," are determined by the Shoot Director and may differ from meet to meet.
